Good morning BFC Families,
I am sure many of you have heard the tragic news regarding the passing of Ben Austin from a cricket accident. Ben was a much loved player with the Waverley Park Hawks JFC, having played all his junior football with the club from U8 – U18. Ben was also an SMJFL and VAFA umpire. He was admired for his kindness, sportsmanship, and dedication to the game. Our hearts and thoughts go out to Ben’s family and the Waverley Park Hawks JFC community in this time of deep sadness.
Waverley Park Hawks together with Ferntree Gully Cricket Club have, with the consent of the Austin family, an official GoFundMe page to support them with the sudden passing of their beloved Ben.
The two clubs are coming together to provide whatever the family needs during this time, and they welcome any donations big or small to help them along this journey.
What happened to Ben was heartbreaking and he will be greatly missed by all our communities. They are already aware that unfortunately there are some unsanctioned GoFund me pages, as such can you please direct any members to the official page as per the link below. This link will also be available via the official Waverley Park Hawks website and Facebook page.
https://gofund.me/33cdbaa40As we at BFC know, only too recently, the tragic passing of any member from our community is heartbreaking, made more devastating when it is one of our young players.
We are sending this link to our families so that any one of our members can opt to support the Austin family in this initial stage of devastation.
As we head into the long weekend, for those that have a cricket bat, please put it out to show our support for the Austin family in memory of Ben.
Regards
Fiona Love
